Back Roads has been a dream in the making for several years - we are thrilled to finally share this limited production, Solera-style wine! John and Jody wandered through Northern California looking for over-ripe red grapes and found what they were looking for in some old vine Zinfandel. Hand-picked into their fruit bin in the back of the truck, they drove the backroads home where John fermented the grapes but left them slightly sweet. This wine has been aged for almost five years and fortified with grape spirits. A small percentage of Oregon Syrah from the 2020 harvest has also been blended in to brighten the fruit complexity of the wine. An exciting new product for the JW brand portfolio!
