Pinot Noir
All the grapes on this side of our main aisle are Pinot Noir. J Wrigley features six pinot noir clones: 115, 777, Pommard, 828, Wädenswil and 667.
Of these, 667, 115 and 777 are considered "Dijon Clones", which were imported from France in the 1980s. These vines tend to ripen earlier than Pommard clones - a fact that contributed to the location of blocks in the vineyard. 115 was planted in an area that experiences more wind as the first cool breezes of the day result in slow ripening. Pommard was planted in the warmer section of the property, all in an attempt to ensure all fruit is ready for harvest around the same time each year!
